Phnom Penh is located at the confluence of the Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers. It is the economic and political heart of the country. We did not venture to far out into the city proper, but we did visit the Russian Market and local cafe hangout. We toured the royal palace complex which includes many Buddha statues, antique statuary, clothing, pottery, and murals. The city is home to 1.5 million people.

We also visited the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum which was a former high school repurposed as Security Prison 21 by the Khmer Rouge. We took no photos, but we carry a heaviness in our hearts for the Cambodian people and their loss.
