We spent the morning in My Tho, taking local boats through canals surrounded by nippa palm trees. Then we headed through the extremely busy Cho Gao canal that would take us to the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City. Up to 4,000 ships cross here every day. We traveled in flat-bottomed sampans with four people each to visit a fruit farm and sample local honey, tea, and fruits. At the mouth of the Mekong, river traffic is many and varied, to say the least.
