There are so many small villages outside of Bergerac...and almost all of them have a bakery of course! We visited the petite ville of Issigeac and the castle and winery at Monbazillac.
This village of 700 is awash in tourists during the summer months. In winter, the market is still in full swing, but there are mostly locals about. We bought cheese and spoke with a couple (French/Texan) who have a sweet little candle and napkin shop, The West End, at the edge of the village.

Views of the Valley, the Airport Runway, and the Vineyards
So many books and much joinery work
We spoke at length with Francoise at the Château winery. She was very friendly and had some terrific insights into living in France.
This piece of embroidery has been hanging here for 300 years or so
