A town of 8,700. Sarlat did not disappoint with its 71 heritage buildings, a chance to sing in an empty church, and lunch at a local 'hole-in-the-wall'. The town basically closes up for the winter with many shop signs reading "See you in March..." The amazing covered market was just winding down, so we purchased local pastries and truffled mustard and asked a vendor for a lunch place that might be open and good. She directed us to the local creamery, which was terrific.
