La Tour de Vesoné
2000 Year Old Mosaic Artistry
Half a Vessel
Named after Vesunna, the ancient Roman name for the city of Périgueux, it houses a fascinating collection of artefacts from the time of the Roman occupation of Gaul. The museum’s glass-walled building is built over the remains of a Roman villa. The museum incorporates the ancient remains of the first century AD home Vesone Domus (complete with the remains of an underground floor heating system!) complemented with artifacts and frescos from the surrounding Roman settlement.

This park and playground is built inside the old coliseum, but the arches you see are actually the top as the rest of the arena is now buried under a couple millennia of soil and time.
